Holy Baptism

Holy Baptism

Baptism is a Sacrament of the Church, and welcomes people, by water and the Holy Spirit, into the Body of Christ (the church). We baptise by the pouring of water and making the sign of the cross on the forehead to invite the presence of the Holy Spirit.

If you are interested in being baptised, or having your child baptised, please speak with the Rector after a Sunday service.

We run seasonal Baptism Preparation Courses as preparation for this sacrament.

School Ministry

We are fortunate in Rathmichael to have close links with our excellent national school. Many of the children in our church community attend the parish school. The Rector, in his capacity as school chaplain, visits the school on a weekly basis for assembly and to visit the classes individually.

This pastoral work is supplemented by school visits to the church and occasional school services. Our pastoral support as a church extends to all those in our school community – please do get in touch if we can be of help.

Spiritual growth

As a church community, we actively nurture spiritual growth in our congregation, offering educational and enrichment opportunities for all ages to help us deepen our understanding of the Bible and the Christian faith.

We seek to offer regular Bible and faith based courses and Bible Study. These are open to all and are advertised in the weekly email and church newsletter.

Pastoral Care

Online services, Pastoral Visiting and Home Communion are available to those who are housebound.

We also offer assistance to those just home from a hospital visit through the provision of a meal or a visit. Church members are welcome to assist with this if they would like.

Life Events

Many people find themselves looking for a church because of a change in life circumstance; the birth of a child, an engagement, or a decision to follow in the way of Christ by being confirmed into the Church. We strive to make God’s presence known in all of these instances.

We run courses in preparation for confirmation, and assist in preparation for marriage and funerals. Please speak to the Rector when you have occasion for such assistance.

Under 18s Ministries

The presence of children is a gift to the Church and they remind us that our church is growing. We are delighted to have you and your little ones in Rathmichael.

Please don’t worry about making noise – we know what children can be like! They are more than welcome to stay with you in the pew or to go out to the hall to one of our activities. Children’s books and colouring/activity sheets are available at the church entrance.

Baby and Toddler room

Every week during our 11am service, there is a room available for pre-school children to visit to stretch their legs and play with toys. It is accesible at any point during the service.

Sunday Club

Primary school aged children are welcome to join our weekly children’s group which explores Bible stories through crafts and games.

Zeo Youth

Zeo is the New Testamant Greek word for ‘zeal for what is good’. We are delighted to welcome our Secondary School age young people to this fun and engaging fellowship. It involves games, activities, a short faith discussion and some food.

Additional Family Activities

Throughout the year, we run a variety of events for young families outside of our normal service times. These include Sunday afternoon family services, themed party days and our popular seasonal trails.

Beyond Rathmichael

As a Church community, we are committed to helping those beyond our own community both near and far. We regularly fundraise to send aid to those in need.

In 2023 we began a five year mission to Wandeche Primary School in the Diocese of Maseno North, Kenya. A group from the church travelled to Kenya to refurbish the school and develop links with the local community. Two new blocks of school toilets were also built.

Our aid continues with resources to provide breakfast for the children each day. This has led to increased school-attendance and participation, as well as the obvious nourishment it gives to the children. We plan on further developing our link with Kenya and look forward to updating the church community soon.

While this is a parish initiative, the financing doesn’t come from parish funds – it has been, and continues to be, fundraised separately.
